Shout Outs!

Bowling club

As many of you already know we have a indoor bowling group that meets at the Elton Centre (visit the activities calendar for days/times).

Well a shout out goes to the club for the brilliant work they have done on the car park. The group volunteered their time to paint white parking bays at the front of the building.

It really is appreciated!

Waitrose Stourbridge
A great big thank you goes to Waitrose Stourbridge.

Through their brilliant initiative Community Matters, they collected an amazing £1,000 for our charity.  Community Matters enables customers to nominate charities via their blue token voting scheme.
Cradley Community Centre

Shout out goes to Cradley Community Centre who have kindly donated some hexagon tables.

These tables will be used in our Rainbow Room and are really handy as they fold in the middle and are stackable for convenience.

Kingswinford Academy

We want to say a great big thank you to Kingswinford Academy for donating beautifully decorated hampers which were distributed amongst some of the most vulnerable members of the local community in time for Christmas. Your kind thought really made a real and meaningful difference during this time of year which can be hard for older people, many of whom are alone or suffering financial hardship.

Everyone who attended the Academy’s Festive Afternoon tea are sending their thanks for the wonderful food and excellent entertainment. The singing and dancing performed by the students were absolutely delightful and brought joy and cheer to the audience.

Thank you also goes to Kingswinford Morrisons for their donation of goodies for the initiative.

Advice service is a great help

Our three amazing advice services volunteers have done a superb job over the last 12 months, helping those living in the area to access monies they were entitled to - equating to over £300,000 pounds!

We wanted to give a shout out to thank these volunteers on behalf of Age Concern Stourbridge & Halesowen, as well as those individuals who were assisted.

In the period 1 October 2024 until 30 September 2025 an amazing 166 clients (82 female and 84 male) used the service, which is free of charge and available to all for advice. The main queries rated to Attendance Allowance for those over the State Pension Age (nearly £120,000 worth of benefits) and Personal Independent Payments for working age adults (worth nearly £78,000).

If you have experience in providing advice in either a professional or voluntary basis and are interested in becoming an Age Concern Stourbridge and Halesowen advice service volunteer, then why not email us at info@acsh.org.uk
